My intellectual development has roots in archaeology as well as geology, and has taken me throughout the American Southwest. During my graduate career, I obtained specialized interdisciplinary academic training in soil geomorphology, fluvial systems studies, arid lands processes, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and faunal analysis. My two decades of experience with archaeology of the Southwest includes survey, archaeological testing, and data recovery at prehistoric and historic sites throughout Arizona and western New Mexico, and includes projects in California, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas. Although my background in geomorphology leads me down many environmentally deterministic paths of reason, I find that recent theoretical approaches, like that of cultural landscapes and path dependent systems, work well with this perspective. I hope to continue to delve into topics related to human adaptation to environmental change in the American Southwest.
