Dr. Brooke Persons is a Cultural Resources Investigator at the University of Alabama's Office of Archaeological Research. Dr. Persons has over a decade of archaeological experience in the Caribbean and southeastern United States. Dr. Persons received both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Alabama and previously served for two years as the Senior Territorial Archaeologist for the Virgin Islands State Historic Preservation Office (VISHPO).
Dr. Persons’ experience includes the archaeological survey, testing, and cultural resources recovery of both prehistoric and historic sites, with a focus on heritage management, ceramic analyses, settlement pattern analysis, and the application of Geographic Information Systems in archaeology. Dr. Persons currently has ongoing research projects in Cuba and the U.S. Virgin Islands and is an active contributor to current research in Caribbean Archaeology.
