Brief Description of Education & Experience
Mr. Stair specializes in precontact and historic archeology in the Southeast United States. He has worked as a field technician, crew chief, field director, project archaeologist, principal investigator and/or senior report author in this region for over eight years and has experience leading projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. These projects include solar farms, transmission and pipeline corridors for energy projects, inventories for the National Forest Service, transportation projects for both NCDOT and VDOT, surveys at military facilities, and local government projects. Prior to Kleinfelder, Mr. Stair worked as a Project Archaeologist for another consulting firm and worked a variety of projects that ranged from reconnaissance to Phase I intensive survey, Phase II site evaluation, and Phase III data recovery. Mr. Stair also served as a Crew Chief or Field Director for another consulting firm for a powerline corridor survey for Dominion Power in the mountains of Tazewell County in southern Virginia. He also assisted with a Phase 2 evaluation of a multicomponent site in Petersburg, VA, and worked on two archaeological site delineations for previously recorded historic sites close to the Dulles International Airport. In 2013 and 2014, Mr. Stair worked as an archaeological technician for the James River Institute for Archaeology on a wide variety of projects.
