Brief Description of Education & Experience
I am a rare books professional, a scholar of historic material culture, and a certified environmental consultant. These three disparate career paths converge at the centre of conservation of resources and presenting information to diverse audiences through objective data analysis.
As a rare books professional, I have a decade of experience working in trade and Special Collections in the U.S. and U.K. Within academic libraries, I have held post as the Rare Books Cataloguer at Pembroke College, Cambridge, and have contributed a catalogue records for medieval manuscripts to the University of Kentucky, Yale, and the John Rylands Library. I served as a Critical Friend on the Portico Library's National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, People, Purpose, and Place in Historic Books, to expand accessibility to the folklore collection and I have acted as a freelance cataloguer to members of the rare books trade since 2017. Since 2021, I have been developing my own rare and antiquarian bookstore, Mobilis Books, and have exhibited my self-curated stock at rare book fairs in London, Oxford, Cambridge, Harrogate, and York.
As a scholar of historic material culture, I am a trained palaeographer and codicologist, specializing in 12th – 15th century European manuscripts. I am beginning a second MA in Anthropology (2024-2026), focusing on archaeology at the University of Central Florida, where I will work on the intersection between historic documents and landscape archaeology in Early Modern Florida using ArcGIS to visualize historic datasets.
As an environmental consultant, I focus on human-land-animal impact and how to come to resolutions that allow urban and regional development without compromising areas of natural or historical cultural significance. Since 2007, I have worked with Storm L. Richards & Associates to offer wetland delineation, threatened and endangered species reports, scrub jay and gopher tortoise surveys, and Phase I environmental assessments in Florida and across the country. I hold accreditation by the National Association of Environmental Professionals (and the Florida Chapter) and the Environmental Assessment Association.
