Brief Description of Education & Experience
Alex Fawbush is a digital heritage specialist and archaeologist with over seven years of professional and academic experience spanning archaeology, 3D documentation, and cultural heritage interpretation. Holding an M.A. in Applied Anthropology from the University of South Florida, Alex has contributed to numerous archaeological and digital heritage projects through USF’s Institute for Digital Exploration (IDEx) and Access 3D Lab, operating advanced 3D instruments, processing LiDAR and photogrammetric data, and leading training initiatives.

Prior to graduate study, Alex gained extensive field experience with firms including PaleoWest, Janus Research, and Cultural Resources Consulting, performing archaeological surveys, excavations, and reporting across Florida and abroad. His earlier military career as a U.S. Navy Cryptologic Technician (2008–2016) provided a foundation in precision, leadership, and technical systems management that now supports his meticulous approach to digital archaeology and research coordination.
